Achievement Team Concierge - Danvers Campus

Come be part of the A-Team: the Achievement Team. The Achievement Team is a collaborative among the Library, Tutoring, Accessibility Services, CAS & Testing Center, and the Center for Teaching, Learning and Innovation’s BlackBoard Help in support of a Learning Commons Model.

As a greeter, you will be positioned at the Concierge Desk in the Danvers Campus Library’s Lobby. Your main priority will be to provide a welcoming first contact in directing students to Achievement Team Departments and Services. There are multiple openings for this position. Hours would fall between 8 am - 7 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am - 4 pm on Friday.

Statement of Duties:

  • Provide directional assistance for students looking to access Achievement Team services.

  • Provide directional assistance for students looking to access Achievement Team services and other Academic Student Development offices at the College.

  • Work with Achievement Team Departments to showcase department resources and services at the Concierge Desk.

  • Assist with clerical functions in support of Achievement Team Departments.

  • Assist with student computing and printing in the Library.

PT Design Assistant

Statement of Duties:

  • Successful experience interacting with a culturally diverse population. 

  • Assist Tutoring Center administrative staff with promoting services and making connections with students.

  • The position will include both marketing and design elements.

  • Create and post content to Tutoring Center social media sites.  

  • Create and post flyers and other graphics to promote the Tutoring Center’s services and opportunities. 

  • Perform light office tasks as necessary, such as greeting students or answering phones.

Qualifications:

PT Peer Tutor

Department: Tutoring Center

Current needs are as follows:

  • PTA, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Business courses (Accounting), Math.

The mission of North Shore Community College’s Tutoring Center is to support the learning efforts of the student, faculty teaching, and the larger goal within each program of study.

Tutoring is an academic support strategy that seeks to increase the probability of academic success. Peer tutors will conduct individual and, on occasion, small groups.

Statement of Duties:

  • Meet with students individually or in small groups as appropriate.

  • Provide tutorial assistance in specified subject area(s), including study and academic success skills.

  • Offer referrals to tutoring, Academic Advising, Financial Services, Accessibility services, and other support services. Create appointment summaries within Navigate.

  • Escalate any concerns about a tutoring student to the supervisor.

  • Attend required tutor training sessions and staff meetings throughout the semester.

  • Assist students in making appointments and signing into the center kiosk.

  • Visit classes to promote tutoring services.

  • Complete tutor orientation and training prior to starting work.

  • Tutor students individually and in small groups during after-school hours.

  • Serve as a role model to high school students.

  • Maintain professional behavior with students.

  • Monitor student behavior and enforce program and college regulations.

  • Monitor students' academic progress and tutoring hours.

  • Prepare written summary reports on student progress every two weeks.

  • Circulates and monitors the tutoring rooms and actively addresses students who may need help.

  • Monitor the computer lab and program activities during tutoring hours as needed.

  • Help students clarify information, brainstorm, expand ideas, and think independently.

  • Help students understand mathematical and scientific formulas.

  • Schedule one-on-one tutoring sessions with students on academic probation.

Qualifications:

STEM Lab Technician

  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and glassware.

  • Constantly keeping a clean and organized workspace.

Student Essential Needs-Lynn Campus 

Department: Wellness Accessibility Services

  • Responsible for covering the Lynn Campus Cupboard Tues, Weds & Thursday (flexible hours
    TBD between 10am & 3pm per student’s class schedule).
  • Fulfilling and documenting food orders for the Campus Cupboard & Food Lockers for requesting
    students.
  • Unpack and stock food donations received for the Campus Cupboard.
    Keep an accurate inventory of items available in the Campus Cupboard and report items that
    need to be restocked.
  • Assisting students with registration for the Food Lockers to access their food bags.

  • The successful candidate will meet students from Brickett School to walk with them back to 17 Atlantic St in the after-school hours.

  • The teaching intern works with retired teachers and the children to help them with reading, and homework help and to play games; do arts and crafts; play outside, and/or walk with children to nearby Red Rock Park. Intern needs to be CORI approved and have First Aid (we can provide).

  • Bilingual candidates are a plus.

  • Light clean-up/housekeeping is expected to maintain a daily environment at the end of each day.

  • Hours are 1:30-5:00 Monday-Thursday.

Tutor and Activities Leader

  • Supervision and tutoring of children ages 6 – 12 during homework, games, activities, meals, field trips, etc.

  • Individual and group tutoring of children.

  • Planning and implementing creative and enriching games and activities for the kids.

  • Preparation of snack/meal. Food will be provided by the program.

  • Problem/crisis intervention and counseling during day-to-day interactions.
